New Member Veronica Caira Inducted.

On a cold and wet day, 18.5 Rotarians (an explanation on the half Rotarian half guest in a little while), 1.5 guests and a visiting Rotarian/speaker meet at the Lexington Golf Club with President Michelle presiding. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by PP Domenic, one verse of America was led by PP Dan O, PDG Jack did the invocation. The food was a mixture of a steak, fish, and veggies.

Fines started quickly as PDG Jack took a little liberty in the invocation and blessed the cold windy weather. PP/Secretary Frank fined himself for not properly introducing the speaker as also a visiting PP Rotarian from Winchester.

Once the visitors were introduced and MVP Charlie led us in the welcome song, the happy dollars came rolling in.
  • PP Domenic for his belated birthday and a vacation
  • PDG Jack for the Lexington High school boys football victory
  • PP Jim S for our new member Veronica (more to come)
  • PP Nick for our guest that is now full-time director of the Lexington Chamber
  • PP Murray for a wonderful vacation to Japan
  • PP Spencer for a better vacation to Jamaica
  • PP Laurie for a few missed meetings and the 130 meals provided during Thanksgiving
  • P Michelle was grateful for everyone’s help and the overwhelming success of the Cash Raffle, Raise Against Hunger event and the Thanksgiving meal donations. She also has been very lucky in her lottery winnings lately and let the club know that she donated her $70 50/50 winning from last week to the club.

Now on to our half guest half member, Veronica Caira was inducted as our newest member. She is the branch manager at Enterprise Bank and currently the Secretary, I mean, TREASURE of the Lexington Chamber. She lives in Lexington. Please make sure to welcome her to our club.

PP Jim F will be collecting Toys for Tots donations at next Monday’s meeting or you can drop them off at Brookhaven until the 6th. Sand For Seniors is this weekend (December 1st & 2nd). If you can help, please make sure you get in touch with PP/Secretary Frank S. December 17th is our holiday party. There will be no meeting on December 24th or 31st.

Our speaker was Richard Salter of Salter health care. He is the president of the company and a PP of the Winchester Rotary club. The focus of his talk was on health care patient advocacy. With the changing rules within the health care insurance space there is a big focus on not re-admitting patients. So, if you are being dismissed form a hospital where do you go next? Home, Nursing Home or skilled facility. You need to make sure you advocate for the location that will bring the most successful outcome. Their facilities focus on short-term rehabilitation stays.
