2018 Scholarship Luncheon
It was special day, 70 degrees, sun was shining both outside and inside Lexington Golf Club. 15 scholarship recipients from Lexington High School, LCA and Minuteman enlightened our day. We were 19 Lexington Rotarians, a visiting Rotarian and 32 guests. Our guests include families of our recipients, Andrew Stevens, Principal of Lexington High School and Jack Dillon, Principal of Minuteman. Our generous lunch included ribs, fried chicken, mac and cheese, corn and many more.
PP Domenic led us in the pledge, one verse of America led by PP Dan Olsen and the invocation was given by PDG and PP Jack. Having so many guests helped Charlie V to lead us to an energetic welcome song.
Happy dollars were donated by Dan B, Dan O, Jim F, Allan, Spencer and our old member Jack for the combined success of Comedy Night and Scholarship Committee. PP Dan B mentioned the Comedy Night has generated over $14,000 covering costs of 15 scholarships. PP Murry was happy to reunite with his college friends after 50 years, achieving a 33% participation. PP Dan B has also donated for the memory of Richard Wylie president of Endicott College who passed away this Saturday.
PP Jim S proposed a dollar fine for all Rotarians for leaving one table without a Rotarian host. He himself ended paying for us all as he was aware of this and did not act to correct it.
Raffle gifts were donated by:
- Busa Wine and Sprits
- Patriot Community Bank
- Walpole Bank
- John O`Donnel
- Peoples`s United
And won by mostly our guests.
President Lori reminded us to check our Paul Harris points, collect trees from Rotary International and the Champagne Art auction of Burlington Breakfast Rotary.
Our Scholarship Committee chair PP Jim F share information about Lexington Rotary, Rotary International to our guests. Most remarkable one being eradication effort of Polio where Rotary International generated $ 1.6 Billion funds. He has finished his speech by inviting our scholarship recipients to join Rotary in the future.

President Lori presented scholarship checks to our participants who thanked and shared the college programs they are starting:
