December 17th 2018 Rotary Club of Lexington Holiday Party

As the sun broke through the late morning snow clouds at the Lexington Country Club, the dining room came alive with the warm chatter of Rotarians, guests and friends exchanging Holiday greetings.

As is typical each year, friendships that are now a year older were renewed with details of grand babies due, recent weddings and travel tails from the world over.

A moment of silence was observed at the start of the meeting for the recent passing of PP Bix Shoemaker.

Our featured guests today were the Lexington High School Madrigal Singers, who did their best to hold their chuckles as we sang our welcome song in the usual key of X-major.
Many thanks and special recognition to Patty and the kitchen crew for the fantastic buffet meal- fit for a king. (OK I’ll say it- or a Queen)

PP Dan B found it important to call out and fine the alarm guy and plumber for not responding to his electronic invite to the meeting. (Bah Humbug to the inter-web).

Many other fines, mostly self-imposed were offered to celebrate various occasions or events. Each was quickly collected by our energetic Sgt-at-Arms Alan.

Many thanks to Pam Awrach, who after winning the 50/50 raffle, graciously donated it back to the Club.

With 24 Lexington Rotarians present, it was hard to imagine that not one of the 34 guests and visitors was invited to sit at the Betts, Vail, Grant, Freehling table. Maybe Spencer’s Hawaiian Holiday shirt made it look like the entertainment table. Nice job at the Goodwill Store Spencer! Regardless it cost them five bucks each to sit closest to the door.
The true spirit of the season was the delightful singing by the a Capella Madrigal Singers- all 18 of them. They are a lively and talented grouped who seemingly loved to sing with obvious energy and smiles. Their Director, Jason Ianuzzi confirmed how much he enjoyed working with them and seeing them perform.

Finally, a note of thanks to Nick and Nancy of Wagon Wheel Nursery for the beautiful table center pieces. And thanks to Santa for his attendance and assistance raising $825.00 that the Club will put to thoughtful charitable use
